Sunday, April 8, 2012 The members of the Sandy Spring Vol. Fire Department regret to announce the death of Deputy Chief Bruce Newcomer.   Chief Newcomer  fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Bruce spent much of his life serving others as a paramedic with the Prince William County VA Department of Fire Rescue as well as the Sandy Spring Vol Fire Department where he progressed through the ranks during his many years of service.  

A funeral service was held on April 13, 2012.  Chief Newcomer was laid to rest in Smithsburg, Maryland  The members of Sandy Spring wish to express their deepest sympathy to the Newcomer family and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers .  Bruce you are greatly missed.
